I love how God can use nature to reveal secrets to us. The process of metamorphosis that happens in the butterfly ‘life cicle can be connected to some cicles in our lives.
But before I share what I have been learning from it, I would like to take a look at the meaning of Metamorphosis.
ORIGIN: From the g reek ” metamórphōsis” that means, transformation;
The word itself clearly explains what this process is about.
In the season I am living now, I am facing this process of Metamorphosis. A process of waiting, resting and at the same time building up things inside that can not be seen from the outside. It feels uncomfortable, it feels like you are stuck in a box and you have not much space to move … It’s basically the process that the caterpillar goes through when she’s about to become a butterfly. This caterpillar put herself in the pupa, or a chrysalis in order to make the transformation happens. It’s a vital process and if it’s touched, it can bring death. It’s the last stage before this caterpillar becomes a butterfly and FLY. As I mentioned before, there is not much space for this caterpillar to move. The body of the Caterpillar is changing drastically to an adult butterfly. Things are growing, maturing, changing in her body … but we can not see it. It’s a hidden process!
From this stage wings will be formed. From this stage all the life “restrained” will come out. In fullness, joy, intensity, colors, beauty and movement. The caterpillar can not come out of the chrysalis before this process is completely done. There is a specific time set for that. She would not have become the butterfly. Nature knows that. Nature respects that.
Why should we not respect these kind of processes in our lives and rush on things? We can surely shortcut some processes but the outcome can be death. Every season is a season with cicles and in order to make them work well each cycle needs to be finished in the right way, in the right time. It must be accomplished until the next stage comes and we are able to “give birth”.
If there is any “rush”, the cycle can be interrupted and it can mess with the “best” outcome intended for that season. To endure the whole process is the best way to guarantee safety, maturity and fruits that will last forever!
As we go through these transformation cicles let us have in mind that God is the one who created this process. God is interested in changing us from the inside out. God is the one desiring to see us becoming everything He wants us to become! He is the one causing us to grow, while we rest in the waiting, while we allow Him to work in our inner man.
I encourage you and I, to harden the processes God takes in. Endure every season, every cicle. Embrace it, so we will be ready to fly!
